A UV roll-to-roll printer (also called UV R2R printer) is a type of wide-format digital printer designed to print onto flexible roll-fed materials using UV (ultraviolet) curable inks.
Key Features✔ Roll-to-Roll Media Feeding
• Prints continuously from a roll of material instead of rigid sheets.
• Ideal for long prints like banners, wallpapers, decals, and wraps.
✔ UV Curable Inks
• Special inks that instantly cure (dry) when exposed to UV light built into the printer heads.
• Results in vivid colors and durable prints right off the machine.
✔ Wide Format & High Speed
• Typically supports media widths from ~1 m up to 5 m (or more), depending on model.
• Suitable for large signs and graphics.
✔ Durable, Outdoor-Ready Output
• UV inks are weather-resistant, scratch-resistant, and fade-resistant — great for outdoor signage.
-
Material Loading: A flexible substrate on a roll (vinyl, banner mesh, film, canvas, etc.) is loaded onto the printer.
-
Printing: The printer head lays down microscopic droplets of UV inks as the material advances.
-
UV Curing: Built-in UV LED lamps immediately cure the ink as it’s printed — so there’s no drying time.
-
Take-Up or Cutting: Printed material winds onto a take-up roll or moves to finishing (cutting, laminating).
Typical flexible rolls include:
-
PVC vinyl
-
Adhesive/self-adhesive films
-
Banner mesh
-
Backlit film
-
Canvas
-
Textile/fabric media
